On hand for the April 2007 North Shore Spirit Trail funding announcement are MLAs Kevin Falcon (Surrey-Cloverdale), Joan McIntyre (West Vancouver-Garibaldi), Katherine Whittred (North Vancouver-Lonnsdale), Ralph Sultan (West Vancouver-Capilano), Daniel Jarvis (North Vancouver-Seymour), along with West Vancouver Mayor Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, District of North Vancouver Mayor Richard Walton and City of North Vancouver Mayor Darrell Mussatto.
Approximately 15 km in length, the West Vancouver Greenway path generally following the foreshore using existing pathways, lanes, park roads, local roads and the rail right-of-way. Path segments independent of existing roads will be paved and lit.
The Province's share of the West Van portion of the trail is $2 million.
The North Shore Spirit Trail will be a waterfront-oriented multi-use greenway with access from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove for pedestrians, cyclists, in-line skaters and people with wheeled mobility aids.
