The Province's $2 million contribution hrough its localMotion program will help rebuild and enhance the seawall and forest trails, both important elements in Vancouver’s recreational infrastructure.
The park was badly damaged during a severe wind storm in December, 2006.
The seawall’s subsurface, surface and adjacent escarpment are to be repaired for the safety of walkers, joggers, in-line skaters and cyclists.
Forest trail work will include the removal of obstructions and danger trees along and adjacent to trails, and the reconstruction and enhancement of damaged trail portions.
Vancouver is one of 26 communities across British Columbia that are receiving $18.9 million in the first round of the Province's LocalMotion program, to build bicycle paths, trails and walkways, support community playgrounds and improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
