From improving sidewalks and creating bike paths to enhancing greenways and increasing accessibility to public amenities for seniors and people with disabilities, the $40-million LocalMotion program has helped local governments throughout the province create even better places to live, work and play.
LocalMotion has funded 122 projects across British Columbia since 2007, providing up to 50 percent of eligible project costs. These include vital pedestrian and cycling infrastructure projects that have promoted healthier, greener and more accessible communities, while creating jobs and stimulating the economy.
In March 2009 the federal government announced it would support the LocalMotion program.
Applications are no longer being accepted.
All successful project announcements have been made and funding for this program is now fully committed.
